PAUL FEATURED IN GRAMMY AWARDS DOCUMENTARY

Paul Featured In Grammy Awards Documentary

This year’s Grammy awards featured a great deal of drama, both good and bad. Tragic news broke 24 hours before the ceremony when the passing of singer Whitney Houston was announced.

A new half hour documentary, featured on their website, gives music fans a behind the scenes view on how the show was put together, and altered in light of Houston’s untimely death.

The documentary also features a touching section where Joe Walsh, Bruce Springsteen and Dave Grohl discuss how it felt to be invited onto the stage to perform with Paul on The Beatles’ medley ‘Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / The End’ which closes the ‘Abbey Road’ road.

PAUL SUPPORTS HUMANE SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL´S BE CRUELTY-FREE CAMPAING

Paul has given his backing to Humane Society International’s Be Cruelty-Free campaign, the largest-ever global effort to end animal testing for cosmetics worldwide. In many countries, animals such as rabbits, mice and guinea pigs continue to have cosmetic chemicals dripped in their eyes, spread on their sensitive skin or injected into their blood. Such testing is already banned in Europe, and a further ban on the sale of cosmetics that have been newly tested on animals in other parts of the world is due to come into effect in March 2013. Paul has sent a powerful message to consumers across the globe to sign HSI’s Be Cruelty-Free pledge and help end the suffering for good.

Paul said:
“The ugly truth about testing beauty products on animals is that it causes them unimaginable pain and suffering. If every cosmetic tested on rabbits or mice had a photo on the packaging showing these animals with weeping swollen eyes and inflamed skin, I believe everyone would leave cruelty on the shelf and go for the cruelty-free option instead. So, let’s stand up for those defenceless animals by supporting the Humane Society International’s new Be Cruelty-Free global campaign to end animal testing of cosmetics worldwide. Go online, sign the Be Cruelty-Free pledge today and help HSI achieve a world where no animal has to suffer and die for the sake of cosmetics.”

Animal testing for cosmetics such as lipstick, hairspray and moisturiser is banned across the European Union, but is still permitted in most countries around the world. In some regions, including China and parts of South America, such testing is even required by law.

HSI believes that testing cosmetics on animals is both unethical and unnecessary. Cosmetics can easily be produced the cruelty-free way, by using the thousands of existing ingredients for which safety data are already available, combined with advanced non-animal testing methods such as 3D human skin and advanced computer models.

“We’re thrilled to have Sir Paul’s support for our Be Cruelty-Free campaign in Europe because so many consumers are still unaware that animals still suffer for cosmetics testing and that their purchasing choices can make a difference to animals,” said Troy Seidle, director of research & toxicology for HSI. “We agree with Sir Paul that if the truth about animal suffering was on the cosmetics label, ethical consumerism would prevail. So we hope that people across the globe will join Humane Society International and Sir Paul in our effort to turn the whole world cruelty-free.”

The Be Cruelty-Free campaign combines consumer campaigning and political lobbying with corporate and scientific outreach. Be Cruelty-Free has been launched by HSI and its partners in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Europe, India, New Zealand and the United States.

RINGO: "IT´S JUST ANOTHER NUMBER, ISN´T IT?

Ringo Starr turns 72 on Saturday. But another mile marker - 50 years since he became a Beatle - is also being celebrated this year - just not necessarily by Starr. He told CBS News he hasn't thought about the milestone at all.
"It's just another number, isn't it? You know, that's how it is. ... It used to be just two years. Ooh, now five. Now 40," Starr said.
When asked recently in New York if there will be a special celebration, Starr said, "Well, Paul (McCartney) and I will go to the pub, you mean? No."

If he sounds at all sour, that's because Starr has spent a good part of his adult life trying to distance himself from the Fab Four. That journey, however, has never taken him off stage.

He said of performing, "I love being on stage, because one, I'm down there as the big show off. And...I get to play with all these great musicians. So it's a win-win for me."
Starr's band, Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band, started touring in 1989, and featured a rotating cast of musicians, including Joe Walsh and Peter Frampton. Now, 12 incarnations later, Starr says the show's only getting better.
"You know, it used to be two years between each tour," he said. "Now, well, I haven't had a break in a while, so I'm playing more and more, you know? ... I have the energy, I don't know. It's just one of those turning points."
And these days, more young people are attending the shows, Starr said. "We're not overloaded with, you know, people our age," he said. "I check the whole room out. ... I'm checking the room as I'm working. And I'm listening for anyone who says, 'Love you, Ringo.' 'I love you, too.'"
It was on the road where Starr happened upon his latest hobby, creating pop art using computer paint programs. He decided to print and sell the images for charity, and at a recent event, some sold for $12,000.
Starr says the computer art keeps him busy. "It's for a good cause," he said. "There's more in (the art) than I even imagined."
He pointed out a drawing that has a dog and a man hidden inside the picture. Star joked, "It's very deep."
Starr's also embracing another electronic medium - Twitter. He said he wanted to join the revolution. "I'm just seeing what's going down," he said. "I'm doing my part."
Revolution is familiar territory for Starr, whose back-beat helped ignite a musical one five decades ago. But these days, he's just looking for a little peace. Starr said, "I'm not a violent man. I am Mr. Peace and Love, for God sake. I mean that in a loving way."

Ahí, John tocaba junto al grupo The Quarrymen y Paul asistió a verlo.

The Quarrymen :
John Lennon (16 años) cantante-guitarra principal
Pete Shotton -Tabla de lavar
Eric Griffiths- Guitarra

TIME Paul McCartney: The legend rocks on

To spend time in 20 Forthlin Road, the small brick row house in the Liverpool suburb of Allerton where Paul McCartney lived from age 13 until two years or so after he became a Beatle, is to know both far more about him -- and far less -- than all the records, photographs, books, and interviews can ever convey.
The two-floor house is tiny, and dowdy in that lower-middle-class British way that Americans have a hard time wrapping their heads around -- where are the radiators? where is the shower? -- and for anyone with even a smattering of knowledge about McCartney's history, being in this place, with this particular Northern light shining palely through the parlor window, feels almost embarrassingly intimate, and unbearably poignant.
It was Paul's mother Mary's income as a midwife that allowed her small family -- her husband Jim, a cotton salesman by trade and an amateur musician by avocation; Paul and his younger brother Mike -- to move to this new council house in 1955, a move up in the world after the smaller flat they'd occupied in a tougher neighborhood called Speke, close to the River Mersey. Allerton was the suburbs, or the Northern English version of them, anyway.
Yet the family had occupied the place for only a year when cataclysm struck: on October 31st, 1956, at age 47, Mary McCartney died of breast cancer. Paul was 14; Mike, 12. Jim reeled with grief. "That was the worst thing for me, hearing my dad cry," Paul remembered. "I learnt to put a shell around me at that age." But somehow the three of them braced up and carried on, and music had everything to do with it: Jim once more began to plink on the parlor piano; Paul, of course, picked up the guitar.
A black-and-white photograph taken by a teenaged Mike McCartney hangs on the wall of that parlor: it shows Paul and John Lennon, twentyish, sitting knee to knee, guitar to guitar, composing, in that very spot. A school notebook with scribbled lyrics sits on the floor. The song is "I Saw Her Standing There." A great reckoning in a little room, as another Englishman wrote. And a great mystery as well -- how on earth did all that come from here?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STUART SUTCLIFFE

June 23 1940

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the most beautiful angel Stuart, right at this moment, lord knows how much I’m wishing he was here.  He is truly an inspiration to me and he is someone that really changed my life in so many ways. He’s the reason why I think art is so phenomenal and so essential. His creativity, his courage, and potential is a miracle for someone as young as that. For someone who was sitting creating and coming up with new things, new ideas non-stop at that age, is what makes him my role model, someone I look up to for courage , strength and confidence. I believe Stuart will always have a deep mark in my heart,he will never stop fascinating me. As John said, he is truly a guiding force. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
This man means so much to me. Stuart, you have so many admirers, and you deserve every one of them. It’s so sad for you to have gone so soon, the possibility in your creativity was so endless, and I truly believe all you had already accomplished in your life was just skimming the surface. I, and many others as I can see, will never forget you. Golden slumbers, lovely.
