Imágenes que se creían perdidas de los Beatles visitando una tienda de 'fish and chips' y cantando dentro de un autobús durante el rodaje de su película "Magical Mistery Tour" en 1967, pueden verse por primera vez. En ella pueden ver al cuarteto realizando una visita a la freiduría Smedley, en Taunton (suroeste de Inglaterra), acompañado del resto del reparto y del equipo técnico, mientras grababan el film.

Sólo algunas imágenes de los más de cuatro minutos de filmación fueron incluidas en la película de 52 minutos, pero el resto del metraje fue recuperado durante la preparación de un documental para el programa BBC Arena.

 

Las imágenes, en las que se puede ver a The Beatles pidiendo y comiendo con el resto del equipo, antes de volver al autobús y seguir cantando en un ambiente festivo, puede verlas : AQUI.

"Magical Mystery Tour", fue una película muy criticada cuando se estrenó durante las Navidades de 1967, esta ha sido restaurada y remasterizada para un inminente nuevo lanzamiento en DVD y Blu-ray.

"I met Sean when Deerhoof opened for Plastic Ono Band and we got along so fine that when he needed a local opener for Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger's San Francisco show one time, he said 'Why don't we do an improv duo?'" Greg Saunier tells Rolling Stone.  "We had such a good time. Sean is an instant composer."

When Lennon invited the Deerhoof drummer to record in upstate New York, the pair emerged with a whole album. "Every song turned out different from the next," Saunier says. "'Mechanical Mammoth' started because Sean's friend had brought this antique monstrosity of a synthesizer. Sean's real touchy-feely, and by that I mean he couldn't keep his hands off the many dials, knobs and levers of this crazy thing. Within seconds it sounded to my expert ears like a song. Like I said, instant composer. Even when working in microtones. I started hitting some upstate pots and pans and minutes later we knew we were going to have to send our hit jam to Rolling Stone!"

JOHN DRAWINGS COMING TO NYC GALLERY

NEW YORK (AP) - Fans can see another artistic side of John Lennon in New York City this week.

An exhibition will feature 100 drawings and sketches by the late Beatle. It's called "Gimme Some Truth: The Artwork of John Lennon." 

The show runs Friday through Oct. 9 at 130 Prince Street in SoHo

It marks what would have been Lennon's 72nd birthday.

The works cover the years 1964 to 1980, the year Lennon was fatally shot outside his Manhattan apartment building. 

The exhibition is being presented by his widow, Yoko Ono, as well as Bag One Arts and Legacy Fine Art and Productions.

A $2 donation is suggested, and the funds will benefit Citymeals-on-Wheels.

Lennon's art consists of quick sketches and the Oriental technique of sumi ink drawings.

Rob Smith has painstakingly recreated the management contract signed by The Beatles and Brian Epstein in 1962; what he describes as the most important document in rock and pop.

A business man in Bratton is crafting limited edition replicas of the contract signed between The Beatles and manager Brian Epstein, to mark its 50th anniversary.

Rob Smith, 49, who runs a framing business on the West Wilts Trading Estate, has spent three years in a painstaking quest to re-create the musical milestone.

Using period materials, the 10,000 replicas are hand-stitched, with the correct revenue stamps and solicitor’s enclosure seals.

Mr Smith said the original document – worth an estimated £500,000 and signed by the Fab Four, Epstein and also Paul McCartney’s and George Harrison’s fathers, as both were under 21 – came his way by chance.

“I get used to it when people ring up and say they have the Magna Carta in the car. I tend to take these things with a pinch of salt,” he said.

“It was only when my client turned up with it that I thought I’d better get out my white gloves and handle this with care.

“It is so valuable that the insurers won’t allow it to be displayed, so the owner wanted nine museum-grade replicas made. Only two are left. I have those.

“However, he has given me a licence to produce these copies as Beatles memorabilia for fans to own.

“I have always been interested in the forensic side of these things.

“Where other people see a bit of paper with writing on it, I see the things which have gone to put it together.”

The replicas even reproduce where John Lennon started to sign in the wrong place, before crossing it out and re-starting, as well as minor tears and marks.

Mr Smith visited the International Beatles Festival in Liverpool last month, to publicise his work.

He went to the Cavern Club and to Port Sunlight, across the Mersey, where the band first played with its final line-up.

While he was there, he showed it to a memorabilia dealer, who, he said, went very quiet. He thought it was the real thing – the most important document in rock and pop history. I am very proud after all the work that went into it.”

Designer's new range eschews last season's sculptured shapes for fabrics highlighting movement of the body

High speed rail link notwithstanding, Paris fashion week still feels a long way from the Olympic village. After a triumphant summer of leotards and Lycra, Stella McCartney returned to her day job on Monday, parading her newest collection on a catwalk at one of her favourite venues, the Palais Garnier opera house.

The Palais Garnier is a lavish cathedral to art, beauty and the sport of social vanity. Architect Charles Garnier pioneered the use of red and gold interiors, rather than the traditional pink and blue: it is said that he did so specifically to enhance the experience of an evening at the opera, because the colour scheme is more flattering to the complexion and a better foil for jewellery. As if to underline the Parisian and distinctly unathletic tone of the event, cafe au lait and miniature pains au chocolat were served to guests as they arrived.

But the Olympic legacy was to make itself felt even here. First, there was the presence in the best seats of the Team GB star trio of Victoria Pendleton, Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, a significant post-Olympic addition to the front row roll call of the beautiful, the cool and the glamorous, led as always by Kate Moss. Second, it was noticeable that Sir Paul McCartney, who rarely misses his daughter's catwalk shows, was less besieged by photographers than usual. The great summer of London 2012 has overtaken the Beatle connection in the story of Stella's brand, it seems.

The clothes had an ease and a freedom of movement which suggested an unwillingness to return from a summer of sport to the painstakingly constructed and narrowly defined aesthetic of catwalk beauty. The sculptured shapes of last season made way for fabrics which allowed the rippling movement of the body beneath to define the wearer's silhouette.

For daytime, this meant micro-plisse pleating, the tiny zigzag folds of which concertina to subtly expand and contract so that the body creates the shape of the garment rather than being imprisoned by set-in-stone measurements.

For evening, silk organza was cut on the bias, a technique which emphasises the sway and roll of the hips instead of constricting them into a wiggle. This new looseness of stride was emphasised by the shoes, which were flat or low-heeled. "Optimistic" was McCartney's timely word for the colours: apple green and Tropicana orange, a naive contrast to the rich, painterly blue of last season.

But fashion being six months ahead, the Olympics is last year's news already, and McCartney dismissed the reference. The sporty references, she pointed out, are always in her collection –"that's part of who she is, the woman I dress". Instead, she said she conceived the show as "about conversation between a man and a woman. I wanted to capture that dialogue between the masculine and the feminine, the boldness and directness of that, and also the fragility of it." What this meant on the catwalk was outfits which each held within them a quirk or contradiction. Some outfits had a different pattern on the back view from that on the front. Very bold, flag-like arcs of colour were used on ultra-delicate skeins of silk rib; a fitted bustier top was worn over slouchy cropped trousers.

Contrast is at the heart of the Stella McCartney brand. The lifestyle she sells is about glamour with a work ethic; integrity with a sense of humour; London with a splash of Paris. This was not an Olympic-influenced show, but – much better, this – a collection from a Brit with a post-Olympic spring in her step.

YOKO ONO EXPONE 100 DIBUJOS DE JOHN EN NEW YORK CON "ARTWORK OF JOHN LENNON"

Para celebrar el que sería su 72 cumpleaños, la viuda del ex Beatle abrirá la exposición "Artwork of John Lennon" en Nueva York, que además expondrá manuscritos de sus canciones

 

Nueva York, 28 sep (EFE).- Como lleva haciendo durante más de una década, la viuda de John Lennon, Yoko Ono, expondrá la semana que viene en una galería de Nueva York cerca de cien dibujos realizados por el legendario miembro de los Beatles para celebrar el que sería su 72 cumpleaños.

"Artwork of John Lennon" abrirá sus puertas el próximo viernes en el barrio neoyorquino de SoHo y permanecerá abierta al público hasta el 9 de octubre, el día en que la ciudad británica de Liverpool vio nacer al autor de temas como "Imagine", según se puede ver hoy en el perfil de Facebook creado para la muestra.

La exposición contará con cerca de un centenar de dibujos realizados por Lennon entre 1964 y 1980, el año en que fue asesinado a las puertas de su casa en la Gran Manzana, tres de los cuales jamás han sido expuestos y entre ellos algunos que estarán a la venta.

Los fondos recaudados durante la muestra, que pese a ser gratuita sugerirá una donación de dos dólares a la entrada, serán destinados a City Meals On Wheels, una organización sin ánimo de lucro dedicada a repartir alimentos y proveer asistencia a los ancianos necesitados de Nueva York.

Con "Artwork of John Lennon", organizada con la ayuda de Bag One Arts y Legacy Productions, Yoko Ono da continuidad a una larga tradición de celebrar los cumpleaños del que fue su marido durante once años exponiendo al público dibujos, bocetos o manuscritos de sus canciones.

Para celebrar el que habría sido el 70 cumpleaños de Lennon, su viuda, también artista y que acaba de lanzar un disco junto con los músicos de Sonic Youth Thurston Moore y Kim Gordon, viajó hasta Liverpool para visitar la guardería y el colegio a los que asistió el exBeatle.

Hace un mes, la petición presentada por el asesino de Lennon, Mark David Chapman, para que se que decretara su libertad tras 31 años en prisión, fue rechazada por séptima vez por la Junta de Libertad Condicional de Nueva York pese a su buen comportamiento y signos positivos de remordimiento.

Paul lends his support to the University of Leeds’ latest charity initiative; ‘Piano Postcards’

Paul has lent his support to the University of Leeds’ latest charity initiative, ‘Piano Postcards’, which aims to raise funds for two high profile music charities, Nordoff Robbins and Live Music Now.

The initiative, which follows the world famous Leeds International Piano Competition of which the University is a long-term supporter, features well known individuals contributing a postcard themed around pianos and music. The postcards form part of a unique exhibition hosted at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery, Leeds; that will be auctioned off on eBay to raise funds for the two charities.
