SLEW OF BEATLE-THEMED EVENTS TO LEAD UP TO PAUL CONCERT IN EDMONTON

There’s a British Beer and Scotch Tasting night slated for Tuesday at the 9918 102 Ave. Three Bananas Cafe just south of city hall.

It’s just six days until Sir Paul plays Edmonton for the first time and the city is celebrating the music milestone in a major way.

Officials are asking Edmontonians to come together at a whole host of events in and around city hall starting Monday — all boasting Paul McCartney and Beatles music.

Also planned for that night is a Beatles/McCartney Mini Film Festival set to run from 7 p.m. to 11p.m in the city room at city hall, where music fans can take in flick A Hard Day’s Night — 1964 British black and white comedy starring all four of The Beatles — John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and, of course, McCartney.

Those who stick around will be treated to a special pre-release screening of McCartney’s newly released film called Live Kisses.

And then, on Wednesday — the night of McCartney’s first appearance at Rexall Place — Beatlemania will take over the city hall’s city room.

Officials say it’ll be a night of pure fun and performances by improv actors armed with true British humour.

Beatles cover band Pepperland will rock the house after Mayor Stephen Mandel — who’s planning to attend his second show, on the 29th — makes an official proclamation commemorating the music legend’s visit to Edmonton.

McCartney’s two Edmonton shows were announced and sold out in a matter of days back in September.

It took two years of work for Northlands to secure the contract with McCartney.
